Tope Alabi’s Yoruba-Indigenous African style of gospel music and worship has not just brought her to the spotlight but has held her right there in grace and light
Tope, also called Patricia, a minister of the gospel through her music is also a mother of one and married to a loving husband, Soji Alabi. She is also the sound track voice in many Yoruba movies.
That’s right, with over 300 yoruba movie soundtrack dedicated to her name. you are sure to hear her sonorous voice in almost every Yoruba movie.
Her humble beginnings dates back to 27, october 1970, the date of her birth to Mr Joseph Akinyele Obayomi and Mrs Agnes Kehinde Obayomi, In Lagos State
Emerging as the only daughter out of the 3 children in the family. She hails from Yewa, Imeko Ogun State
Going on, she finished her secondary school in Oba Akinyele Memorial High School, Ibadan in the year 1986. Thereafter, she proceeded to the Polytechnic Ibadan where she studied Mass Communication and graduated in the year 1990
Around 1982 and 1984 still a secondary school student at the time, her interest in music led her to join the then “Jesters International” (Jacob, Papilolo & Aderupoko) group at Ibadan, where she is said to have gained her earlier experience in music and drama
She then went on after school to work with NTA ibadan as a correspondent under the supervision of Mr. Yanju Adegbite, between 1990 & 1991.
In the bid to gain further work experience She also worked with Centre-spread Advertising Limited, Ilupeju area of Lagos in the year 1991 – 1992.
However her drive for the corporate life was short-lived. the desire to pursue art, create music and dramatize overtook her once again, leading her to join the prestigious “Alade Aromire Theartre group” in 1994.
There, she was able to distinguish herself as a gifted and talented actress and singer. At Alade Aromire theatre group, Tope Alabi was exposed to all the core area of drama and acting profession.
There she met the real stage face to face and discovered it was a passion she would not want to part with for life. one that she would later on explore further in the service of God
She was also involved in various film productions, stage drama and most importantly the soundtrack production with which she is now well-known and considered as an authority in the Nigeria Yoruba Movie industry today.
Her command on stage when she worships, the authority in her chants with which she adores God will lead all under the sound of her voice into total submission to the authority of the presence of God.
A laudably gifted and talented worshiper of God is what she is. although her deliberate technicality when she performs on a life stage can not be overemphasize.
More so,When accredited to the professional theatrical training she has undergone over the years to fine-tune her art and gifts. And the divine hand of God upon her Life.
She has shared many stages with notable ministers of the gospel and others and her music continues to bless many lives worldwide.
